NEP-2020 envisages Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to focus on research development and innovation by setting up start-up incubation centers, technology development centers, and centers in frontier areas of research, greater industry academic linkages, and interdisciplinary research including humanities and social sciences research. The HEIs are greatly relied on research and development for knowledge production, which are highly interlinked in global economy. The research output of HEI is being given high weightage in the ranking indicators.
